Enjoy Pop Star Anaida’s Pop-up Menu At SodaBottleOpenerWala
The bright & chaotic Soda Bottle Openerwala is that one place which gives an authentic Irani cafe experience. The vibrant ambience, raided antiques and usage of aluminum utensils gives an impression of an ‘Old Parsi Home’. This is one of the best places which offers some finger licking Persian food.
SodaBottleOpenerWala has recently launched a new menu “Anaida’s Persian Pop-up Menu” as part of three years celebrations.
90s pop star and the famed Persian singer Anaida Parvaneh along with the chefs at SodaBottleOpenerWala has come up with this menu.
The menu has been curated to showcase traditional Persian dishes made using ingredients from Iran which is available at SodaBottleOpenerWala, Delhi’s Khan Market and Noida outlets from March 18th to April 30th, 2017.
We started with some nice Mocktails -Doogh, Seekanji Bin & Rasberry Soda with their special butter bun maska. Doogh was a Mint and rose petals flavored Iranian yoghurt drink, similar to a salty Lassi. Seekanji Bin was not a regular Seekanji, it had sliced prunes & jaggery topped lemonade & mint leaves. It was very refreshing!
Anaida’s Healthy Persian Salad was mix of cucumber, carrots, pomegranate, iceberg lettuce which was flavored with vinegar and apple cider. The dried rose petals garnished over the top made it more colorful.
For starters, tried Jujeh Kebob, chicken Kebabs served with rice & smoky salad. Never tried Kebabs with plain saffron rice, but this was worth trying. Also ordered a vada pav from the regular menu, went very well with a cup of Irani Tea.
The vegetarian dish, Khoresht e Bamiye or ladies fingers cooked in tomato and onions topped with fried eggplant and fine dried fried potatoes was delightful. Try this with Baghali Polo or Saffron rice. The Baghali Polo with dill and fava beans also went very well with Khorak-e-Gosht, a lamb shank cooked in its own juices with very little onion, chickpeas and basil.
Anaida’s super tasty eggplant roll was another lip-smacking dish from the menu. Fine paste of eggplant wrapped in a roll topped with caramelized onions to give a crunch was a treat to the palates! It is a must try dish for the vegetarians.
Non-vegetarians you cannot miss on ‘Esfahan Beryani’, one of the oldest Persian dishes of fire roasted lamb mince, mildly spiced and served in a naan. This was made to perfection, truly heaven.
Also tried, Paneer Sanju Baba, this is an iconic dish from Noor Mohammadi, a famous Bombay restaurant who claims that this dish was given to them by actor Sanjay Dutt. The Paneer is cooked in onion gravy with whole spices, saffron & buttermilk. It was very light & delicious. This is best served with Jaloo’s famous Malai Parantha.
We ended with some delicious desserts. Persian Halwa made with wheat flour cooked in ghee and rose water flavoured with cinnamon and nuts was the perfect end to this delectable Persian meal.
Shirazi Faloodeh was a glass of rice noodles dipped in lemon flavoured sweet slush and served cold with ice cream.
“Anaida’s Persian Pop-up Menu” is available at their Delhi’s Khan Market and Noida outlets from March 18th to April 30th, 2017.
